⚠️ Safety Note
Stop the exercise if you experience pain, significant discomfort, dizziness, breathing difficulty, or unusual symptoms. Seek appropriate professional advice when needed.
Lateral Tongue Sweep
Move your tongue slowly from the left side of your mouth to the right along the inner edge of your teeth. This improves lateral control for clearer 'l' and 'd' sounds.
Instructions
- Open your mouth slightly and relax your jaw.
- Place the tip of your tongue against the inside of your left cheek, near your back teeth.
- Slowly sweep your tongue across the front of your teeth to the right side.
- Pause briefly at the right side, then sweep back to the left.
- Repeat the full sweep 10 times in each direction.
Repetitions: 10 times each direction, 2 sets
Common Mistakes
- Rushing through the movement instead of going slowly
- Moving the jaw instead of just the tongue
- Not reaching the full range of motion
Variations
- Increase speed gradually after mastering slow sweeps
- Add gentle pressure against the cheek from outside
Stop if you experience jaw pain or clicking. This exercise should feel like a gentle stretch, not a strain.
