⚠️ Safety Note
Stop the exercise if you experience pain, significant discomfort, dizziness, breathing difficulty, or unusual symptoms. Seek appropriate professional advice when needed.
Tongue Tip Rolls
Roll your tongue tip rapidly against the alveolar ridge (the bump behind your upper front teeth). This builds tongue tip agility essential for 't', 'd', 'n', and 'l' sounds.
Instructions
- Open your mouth slightly.
- Curl your tongue tip up to touch the alveolar ridge just behind your upper front teeth.
- Release and tap rapidly — think of a drumroll with your tongue tip.
- Continue for 15 seconds.
- Rest for 10 seconds, then repeat 3 times.
Repetitions: 15 seconds on, 10 seconds rest, 3 rounds
Common Mistakes
- Using the middle or back of the tongue instead of the tip
- Pressing too hard against the ridge
- Tensing the jaw
Variations
- Try rolling while saying 'la-la-la' for added coordination
- Roll at different speeds: slow, medium, fast
This should feel like a gentle tapping motion. Stop if you feel any discomfort.

Move your tongue slowly from the left side of your mouth to the right along the inner edge of your teeth. This improves lateral control for clearer 'l' and 'd' sounds.
P-B-M Lip Press
Alternate between "pa-ba-ma" syllables rapidly. This exercises the full range of bilabial (two-lip) sounds, improving clarity for "p", "b", and "m" which are commonly softened in casual speech.
